Santosh Sivan’s ‘Urumi’ had a great opening in Kerala

Santosh Sivan’s ‘Urumi’ had a great opening in Kerala. The film which is a period drama is Santosh Sivan’s first directorial venture. Before the big picture was released, Santosh had a special screening of the film for his mentor Mani Rathnam. Mani was all praise for his cinematographer turned director. He has said that Sivan had made ‘Urumi’ the way a historical film had to be made. The mentor was all praise for Santosh who was in Thiruvananthapuram promoting the film.

‘Urumi’ is a period film which sees Prithviraj in the lead role. The film has a host of stars including Prabhu Deva, Genelia, Arya, Vidya Balan, Nithya Menon and Jagadhee Sree Kumar. The entire cast underwent rigorous training sessions to do justice to the roles they portrayed. The result – a make believe period film that you will get to enjoy. The new director has revealed that we will screen all his directorial ventures in future to his mentor first before world wide release. Mani Rathnam is busy with the pre-production of his next huge period film ‘Ponniyin Selvan.’ The director has signed actor Vijay for essaying the lead role. There are a lot of rumors going on as to who the music director of the film would be. Some say that the ace director might bring in maestro Illayaraja as well as ‘Isai Puyal’ A.R.
