Cutre Girl Rani Mukherji turns 30

Down but not yet out. Rani Mukherjee, the once reigning diva of Bollywood’s top bracket, may be undergoing a professional downslide, but the lady is here to stay. Today, she celebrates her 33rd birthday.

It’s been 13 years since Rani first stepped under the arc lamps for her debut film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997), but her career did not get going until Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in the following year.

Her most memorable and critically acclaimed performances have come in films like Saathiya, Hum Tum, Yuva, Black, Veer Zara, Bunty Aur Babli and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. She did get a bit typecast in weepy roles in the latter part of the career and perhaps that triggered the downslide in her career.
Last seen as a feisty reporter in No One Killed Jessica, Rani has now landed a plum role opposite Aamir Khan in director Reema Kagti’s next film.

More than her profession, Rani has lately been in the news for her personal life, with many a speculation about the man in her life and even rumours of her possible marriage with the head honcho of a leading production house in Mumbai. Rani has denied the rumours.

Today she celebrates her 33rd birthday along with her family.
